FORENDS

The shotgun forend is the long section of the weapon that resides in the front of the gun slipped over the magazine. It provides the handle-like surface for the non-trigger hand to hold and steady the gun while aiming. The forend of a pump action shotgun is pulled to the rear by the shooter to both eject a spent hull and pushed back forwards to load a new round into the chamber if there is one in the magazine. Often connected to the barrel by a metal band that is welded to the barrel, they will protect the shooter from any heat generated in the barrel section. Usually the forend is made out of either wood or composite material and will affect the ergonomics and function of a shotgun. Interstate Arms is your leading wholesale distributor of custom firearms and firearm parts, including a wide array of shotgun forends.
